Universal curette

This type of curette is called UNIVERSAL because it can be used on all surfaces of anterior and posterior teeth.

Universal curette has the following design characteristics:

• The face of the working end is perpendicular to the terminal shank
• The working end of the instrument has rounded tip (toe) and rounded back
• The working end has two cutting edges
• Semi-circular cross-section

Universal curette can be used to remove small- to medium sized subgingival calculus deposits from shallow periodontal pockets (PPD≤5mm). It can be used for supragingival debridement as well.
