The comprehensive periodontal assessment
Includes clinical recordings & radiographs of the periodontium used to establish diagnosis and plan the treatment.
It may be supplemented with other diagnostic tests such as microbial tests of supra and subgingival biofilm, gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) tests, tests for genetic susceptibility.
Clinical recordings are taken
- With a periodontal probe
- At six sites per tooth (mesio-, mid- & disto-buccal, mesio-, mid- & disto-lingual)
- Naber’s probe is also used for recording of horizontal furcation involvement on upper and lower posterior multirooted teeth
